Jack Ellis, Markets and Integration Issues
Jack brings nearly 40 years of experience in power system planning and economics, wholesale electricity markets, innovative approaches to grid modernization, and an international perspective. In 1996, he co-founded Automated Power Exchange, a provider of physical electricity market services, with the ultimate goal of using market-based prices to coordinate planning, investment and operating decisions.
In a prior career at Energy Management Associated, Jack led several high-profile assessments of coordinated bulk power operations and performed a number of technology assessments for investor-owned utilities and the Electric Power Research Institute. More recently, Jack’s focus has turned to the challenge of operating electric grids with increasing levels of wind, solar, and flexible demand.
Jack earned his Bachelor of Mechanical Engineering from the Georgia Institute of Technology in 1977.
