A NEW APPROACH
TO RELIABLE, COST-EFFECTIVE
At UniGen Resources, we’re forging a new path to reliably integrate large amounts of renewable energy into the electrical grid by disaggregating the seemingly intractable grid-level problem into smaller, more manageable problems.
Relatively stable, predictable generation sources are a thing of the past. The current grid was not designed
to handle the large amounts of unpredictable variable energy needed to protect our planet and meet ambitious state and federal policy goals for renewable generation.
Our technology solution and business model are designed to integrate large amounts of renewable energy into the electrical grid without sacrificing stability or cost effectiveness. UniGen Resources directly couples a renewable resource to a firming resource such as a natural gas plant or energy storage system, automatically compensating for schedule misses in real time and allowing renewable generation to be predictably scheduled in the Day Ahead Market.
Innovative states like California will meet their ambitious public policy goals and continue to be viewed as leaders in carbon reduction.
OFFERS A WIN-WIN
SOLUTION FOR ALL
Market participants like energy
resource owners and utilities will
realize new revenue opportunities, improve financial viability, lower
costs, and offer consumers more renewable energy at affordable rates.
CAISO and other balancing authorities will stabilize electrical supply and demand, avoid significant financial penalties and damaging public dissatisfaction, and ensure the
long-term reliability and affordability of the grid.
THE UNIGEN RESOURCES TEAM
Our team is a group of multi-talented people with a single-minded focus on one goal: To develop innovative solutions to the problems associated with renewable integration.
THE UNIGEN RESOURCES SOLUTION
Our solution couples a control
system with innovative business arrangements that pair one renewable resource to one firming resource, distributing flexible hybrid power plants around the grid.
2019 PILOT PROJECT
Fresh off completing its research grant with the California Energy Commission, UniGen Resources has entered into a partnership with Marin Clean Energy (MCE) to undertake a pilot project.
